Sketchbook Challenge – January 2011
I am participating in the Sketchbook Challenge, which begins this month for 16 months. The theme for this month’s challenge is “Highly Prized”. For this theme, I decided to focus on time. The older I get, the more precious time is. It’s a non-renewable resource, and I try to use it as best I can.
This two-page spread contains some thoughts and quotes about time and art. The background of the left page is done with a Derwent Inktense pencil, there are several collage pieces, and some Zentangle patterns done in pen & ink. (Click the image for a larger view.)
New Zentangle Blog
As I mentioned previously, I will be attending the Certified Zentangle Teacher (CZT) workshop in October. If you are interested in Zentangle art, or classes, you can follow my new blog, Zentangle Harmony.
More Zentangle Books
I just received two new Zentangle books from Design Originals. One is Zentangle 3, the newest in a series by Suzanne McNeill, and Totally Tangled by Zentangle instructor Sandy Bartholomew.
The books contain lots more patterns for your tangling pleasure.
Zentangle®
Last year I discovered Zentangles, a method for creating images from repetitive pattern. It’s a rather meditative activity, and can quickly become addictive. Here is a slide show of my first Zentangles.
I’m finding ways to incorporate Zentangles in my art, playing with various ways to colorize them. Stay tuned.
Design Originals has just published two Zentangle books, and you can learn more on the Zentangle website…
